This policy explains how the SocieteeGolf application ("SocieteeGolf", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal data about golf-society members and users of the app. We are committed to handling your data lawfully, transparently and in line with the UK GDPR and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who we are (data controller)

The data controller for SocieteeGolf is Apoyar Limited, a company registered in England, with its registered office at The Dock Hub, Hove, BN3 6AH, England.

2. What data we collect

3. How and why we use it (legal bases)

• To run the society and the app — manage membership, tee times, events, scoring and voting. Legal basis: performance of our arrangement with you and our legitimate interests in operating the society.
• To send you notifications — event and tee-time notices, reminders and votes, delivered by WhatsApp and/or email. Legal basis: your consent and/or our legitimate interests. You can opt out at any time.
• To respond to you — handle replies and support requests.
• To meet legal obligations and keep the service secure.

4. WhatsApp messaging

We send and receive WhatsApp messages using the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API) provided by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. When you message our WhatsApp number, or we message you, Meta processes that message to deliver it. Meta's handling of WhatsApp data is governed by its own terms and privacy policy. You can stop receiving WhatsApp messages from us at any time by replying to opt out or by contacting us at the address above.

5. Who we share data with (processors)

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, including:

• Meta — WhatsApp Business Platform messaging.
• Netlify — application hosting.
• Supabase — database and backend services (hosted in the EU).

We may also disclose data where required by law.

6. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK IDTA / EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above — generally for the duration of your membership and a reasonable period afterwards — then delete or anonymise it. Message logs are retained for a limited period for delivery and support.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict use of your data, to object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to your data-protection regulator (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EU, your national supervisory authority).

9. Cookies

The app uses only cookies/local storage necessary for it to function (for example, to keep you signed in). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the app or by message, and the "last updated" date above will change.
